'Where I Live' final

This is the first piece I created completely on Illustrator. I did a rough sketch in my sketchbook first and placed the photo of it onto the canvas to let myself know where everything should be.

I used the pen tool and brush tool to draw myself; live-traced the floating objects and used shapes to give the image some motion and energy.

There is a variety of colours throughout the image, and I deliberately lowered the opacity of the circles to match the muted tones of the objects. I changed the background to light brown for the same reason and I think the elements work well together.

'My Space' final

I adapted the symmetrical arrangement for the final poster.

Images I used are MK Building, old houses from the street I used to live in China, tiles at my grandparents' balcony, a red autumn tree taken on the way to Birmingham and the Japanese tower. The origins of my materials show places I've been to and where I have lived.

The bright colours and geometric shapes I overlayed on top of the images liven the whole scene up and gave it a lot of energy. There are many things going on in the poster but I think overall I've kept them under control, and fortunately it did not become a hot mess.
